Terry's Thoughts October 2020
Have you every been pushed to what you thought was your limit? You thought to yourself that I cannot take one more thing! Or have you cried out in prayer, “Oh, Lord would you please make it (whatever it was) STOP? I am sure many of you have been at that place some time within the last six months. I too have been close to that point and have searched the Scripture to find peace and comfort. Throughout these last few months and during my daily quite time I have discovered a word that continues to surface every day. The word is “REMEMBER.” I “remember” over the last few months asking the question, “What are You asking me to remember Lord?” Constantly He would take me to passages and phrases like, “I will never leave you nor forsake you” or “Don’t let your heart be troubled…” My favorite passage, during this time, was found in Exodus 14:13-14, “But Moses said to the people, ‘Don’t be afraid. Stand firm and see the Lord’s salvation that he will accomplish for you today; for the Egyptians you see today, you will never see again. The Lord will fight for you, and you must be quiet.” What God was saying, through His servant Moses, to the nation of Israel, as they were watching the army of Egypt coming after them, is “I got this thing. Let me fight your battles for you!” What this passage and many more were telling me was to “remember” He has not left me alone and I will go ahead and fight for you! What I have “remembered” is that throughout my long life He has indeed fought for me especially when I thought I could not go any longer. As you consider the days we are living in and the many strange things you are facing please do not forget and “remember” HE HAS NOT FORGOTTEN YOU NOR WILL HE EVER LEAVE YOU! REMEMBER He fights for His own. By the way search YouTube and listen to Santus Real’s song “Set Me On Fire” and it will help you remember what the fire of Jesus has and will continue to do for His church!
Speaking of “remembering” please do not forget October is Pastor Appreciation Month. There has never been a year, that I can remember, where appreciating the servants the Lord has sent to serve and lead us is so important. Many of our faithful pastors are simply worn out having to adjust, along with all of you, to maintain His church and meet your needs. PLEASE “REMEMBER” TO RICHLY BLESS THEM AND THEIR FAMILIES SOME TIME THIS MONTH! There are several resources and websites you can visit to find ideas. Let the Lord guide and I am sure He will not forget you as you bless His servant your pastor! Find, in this newsletter and on our website westchowan.org, resources you can consult for ideas to bless them.
Finally, please allow me to say when I “REMEMBER” you I am blown away by how much of an honor it is for me to serve you. I love you and count it a joy to serve the greatest association in our state and possibly in the entire country. Most of all do not forget He loves you even more and seeks to bless as we obey and follow Him. ALWAYS “REMEMBER” HIM!!!
